the job:

we are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and collaborative Procurement Manager who is excited to drive operational strategies for our fast-scaling supply chain. This individual will be expected to approach strategic initiatives and supply issues with innovative problem solving, challenging the status quo, and optimizing for scale. This individual will play a critical role in our supply chain evolution, analyzing our overall supplier base, driving sourcing improvements, and optimizing product lead times and costs. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player who possesses strong negotiation and supplier management skills, expertise in sourcing and leading RFPs, implementing new processes, and driving P&L value.

location: Brooklyn, NY (can work remotely, must be willing and able to come into office when needed)

salary: $90,000 - $120,000 benefits

what you'll do

  • Partner with the Sr. Director and business leaders to determine key procurement needs 
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships by collaborating across departmental lines and businesses to foster trust and accountability
  • Develop superior supplier relationships to drive greater strategic value
  • Participate in the development of supply strategies, to mitigate risk, ensure current and future supply and manage cost
  • Perform market, industry, and trend analysis to understand key cost drivers
  • Lead RFPs for new suppliers, engaging cross-functional teams as needed to ensure all qualifications are met
  • Negotiate pricing and agreements with key suppliers to ensure a continuous source of supply to support the overall business needs
  • Support SKU productivity and value engineering initiatives through competitive pricing
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop supplier performance management systems to maximize the value of our supplier partnerships
  • Drive sustainability goals through the sourcing and commercialization of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes
  • Provide support for special procurement projects, business initiatives, etc. as needed

must haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience (preferably in haircare, personal care, or related consumer packaged goods field)
  • Excellent team player with strong analytical, negotiating, and communication skills
  • Financial acumen related to costing and margin targets
  • Experience in supplier negotiations and developing/executing sourcing strategies
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate up to senior leadership & peers in the organization to influence decisions or share best practices throughout the procurement function
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change
