Overview

The Director of Operations – Workflow will be responsible for the operation, direction, coordination, evaluation, and management of the pharmacy operation specific to clinical personnel (Pharmacists & Clinical Care Specialists). In addition, the Director of Workflow Operations will be responsible for the organization and implementation of policies and procedures that are established. The Director of Workflow Operations will participate in and oversee the pharmaceutical services to patients in a manner that maximizes quality and patient safety.This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Operations – Workflow will determine the day-to-day priorities for the operational teams and adjust those priorities as needed to meet the high touch needs of the pharmacy’s patients
  • The Director of Operations – Workflow will ensure that prescription orders process through daily workflow in a timely manner
  • Monitoring day-to-day pharmacy operations and driving workflow to ensure that the accurate and timely dispensing of quality pharmacy services is consistently delivered to all customers/residents using effective service leadership and customer skills
  • Develops creative solutions to workflow and process challenges and Operations Staff to implement changes or enhancements to process
  • Oversee workflow and coordinate with supervisors/vertical leads on productivity and staff allocation to ensure timely prescription processing
  • Document Mgt – Ensure queue is being worked timely, accurately, appropriately staffed and monitor for process improvement opportunities
  • Benefit Investigation - Ensure queue is being worked timely, accurately, appropriately staffed and monitor for process improvement opportunities
  • Prior Authorization - Ensure queue is being worked timely, accurately, appropriately staffed and monitor for process improvement opportunities
  • Manages staff in a leadership role to maintain a positive working environment by creating synergy and teamwork to minimize employee relations issues and reduce turnover. Communicates effectively with coworkers and customers, and successfully resolves issues
  • Works with pharmacy management to control operating expenses by effective utilization of personnel, equipment and supplies to maintain and improve services within approved budget
  • Plan, organize and ensure adherence to Amerita pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Interview, select and supervise the activities of the pharmacy staff; communicate interpret and discuss with staff policies and procedures
  • Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions when necessary to maintain consistent and productive workflow in the pharmacy
  • Appropriately recognize organizational lines within the department; keep employees informed of matters affecting their work and interest; interpret and explain policies and procedures, department objectives, operations, services

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Required three or more years in the pharmacy field with Home Infusion and Specialty focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a demanding environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and mindfulness
  • Superior analytical, project management and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
