American Paving is an asphalt pavement maintenance company based in East Tennessee. We specialize in paving, milling, crack sealing, seal coating and chip sealing. American Paving is currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Screed Operator to join our team. We currently have an opening for experienced Asphalt Screw men to adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade and finish. The Screed Operator is also responsible for ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement.

Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator

Job Duties:

• Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project.
• Operate the paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment. Notify the Foreman or Paving Superintendent of any mechanical problems.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in weekly toolbox meetings with asphalt crew.
• Perform proper daily cleanout as per the company procedure.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
• Operate other heavy equipment and perform other related duties as required.
• Applicants must have experience and be able to work in the U.S.
• Must have own transportation
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in an asphalt paving operation
• Previous asphalt paving / heavy equipment operating experience
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work well under deadlines
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record and Valid Drivers License required
• Sealcoating experience a plus

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
