OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an Experienced Civil Superintendent who will be accountable for the delivery of projects in alignment with the agreed-upon scope and quality requirements. This is a hands-on role and involves both project supervision and execution including site work, layout, grade staking, concrete foundations, paving, and pavement maintenance.

DESCRIPTION:

The candidate will report to the Operations Manager – and Project Managers on occasion. Accountable for project-level operations including project reporting, field execution, team member supervision, and workplace safety. Serve as key onsite contact for clients, vendors, general contractors, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will be very well-versed in civil construction problem-solving and have a can-do attitude. You must be able to adapt, as each day/project can have new obstacles or requirements.

Duties:

(But not limited to)

· Supervise pavement maintenance duties including, but not limited to, asphalt and concrete paving and repair.

· Make on-site project execution decisions including weather-related scheduling, equipment rentals, quality control, staffing levels, materials requirements, change orders, etc.

· Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed.

· Inspect work and ensure completion in alignment with scope and American Paving’s quality standards.

· Coordinate operations with vendor(s), subcontractor(s), general contractor(s), including equipment, labor, and supplies (as required).

· Ensure crews are properly trained and adhere to traffic management, job safety, local, state, and national labor laws, and waste disposal requirements.

· Address project, client, and employee issues.

· Assist with the preparation and review of estimates, forecasts, budgets and change orders.

· Train, reward, and coach team members.

· Ensure all daily reports and timesheets are submitted promptly.

· Operate equipment and tools including work truck, grinder, dump truck, tractor, loader, backhoe, asphalt roller, asphalt rake, paver, compressor, shovel, jackhammer, post pounder, sledgehammer, and hand tools when necessary.

· Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and shop as necessary.

· Compensation - D.O.E.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Minimum of 10 years performing asphalt/concrete paving, pavement maintenance services or dirt work.

· Must have Field Supervision experience.

· Skilled in running all aspects of a concrete foundation, paving or pavement maintenance operation including equipment and processes.

· Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills, a sense of urgency and a natural ability to work in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.

· Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written. Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.

· High attention to detail, quality and workmanship.

· Possession of a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record. CDL preferred.

· Ability to read and scale blueprints.

· Ability to work days, nights and weekends with overtime (when required).

· Ability to travel (when required).

· Ability to work under intense heat and in all types of weather.

· Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
