The Physician Billing Specialist is responsible for processing and mailing/transmitting claims, tracking claims, monitoring authorization and eligibility of payor benefits, managing the collections process and posting cash receipts.

JOB SUMMARY:

Full Time

This position will be based out of Parsons, TN.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensures timely filing of all Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance claims and reconciles all payments with related charges and adjustments
  • Receives and reviews DAR (Daily Reconciliation Review) document for accuracy and enters charges into PMS (Practice Management System)
  • Balances daily charges and reconcile with reports within PMS
  • Performs follow up on all claims submitted in timely intervals established by Revenue Cycle Manager.
  • Works with Revenue Cycle Manager and payers on denials/rejections
  • Extracts and verify billing information from medical records through access to VISION
  • Ensure all patient demographic and insurance is accurate, prior to submitting claims to insurance companies
  • Prepare and review patient statements prior to release through PMS
  • Posts all third-party payments and applicable contractual allowances to patient accounts
  • Works closely with practice location representatives to ensure proper insurance verifications and authorizations are obtained
  • Communicates professionally with patients and guarantors regarding balances or account information
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Work Experience:

  • Two (2) years of related office experience

Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree preferred, high school diploma required

Required Computer Software/Equipment Used:

  • Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • PC-ACE PRO 32 billing software
  • IVANS Standard Office Equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Allows discretion for standing, walking, sitting
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment; well-lit; comfortable temperature controlled; average conversational noise is frequent
