American Academy of Dermatology is Hiring a Specialist, Social Media & Video Content Near Rosemont, IL

 

The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Specialist, Social Media & Video Content located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for producing engaging social media video content and implementing social media efforts across public social channels in accordance with AAD’s overarching social media strategy. Assist social media manager in exploring new social platforms and tools to increase the reach, influence, and engagement of the Academy’s social media presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Academy’s social media accounts for the public by contributing to paid and organic content planning and development, publishing content, monitoring accounts, and responding to engagement activity.
  • Develop social media video content plans, write scripts, film, and edit videos in appropriate format for public-facing social media channels. Work with members to produce video content and/or coordinate physician review/approval when necessary.
  • Manage the development of the Academy’s Your Dermatologist Knows video series. Develop educational content, strategies, creative concepts, and scripts in conjunction with video production vendors and the Academy’s creative team. Work with internal and external stakeholders, including the Academy’s Public Education Committee, media relations team, and the development and revenue team to determine key content needs. Oversee leadership approval, production, distribution, and analysis. Assist with integrating video into content strategy efforts and marketing campaigns.
  • Stay updated on current trends, tools, and new social media platforms as they emerge. Evaluate opportunities for the Academy’s adoption of trends and/or expansion onto new platforms to continually evolve our strategic plan. Help coordinate and execute plans to maximize social media opportunities.
  • Monitor current issues/events and online conversations impacting dermatology on all social media platforms and provide analysis of the conversations in order to help inform the Academy’s broader communication strategies on the issues. Evaluate opportunities, present, and implement plans for addressing these topics in the Academy’s public social content as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Communications division stakeholders to develop and implement tactics in support of integrated marketing communications plans and media relations campaigns. Contribute to the development of the Academy’s strategic communications plan.
  • Develop benchmark and analysis reports to assess public social performance against established annual goals and objectives. Regularly review results and make recommendations for new opportunities and tactics. Provide ongoing reports and input on social efforts to leadership and council, committees, and task forces as requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism or Marketing required. 
  • Minimum three to five years of social media experience required, including social media video production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as social media video production skills required.
  • Experience developing social media video content for a variety of social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok.
  • Ability to execute projects under minimal supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of internal and external audiences, including members.
