AMDA is Hiring a Financial Aid Counselor Near New York, NY

This position works with students, parents and families on the student’s financial aid counseling, packaging and processing. Must have basic knowledge of federal regulatory policy and requirements. 
  • Counsel and assist parents/students to complete their financial aid packaging.
  • Review all required financial aid documentation for accuracy and federal guidelines
  • Analyze tax information to complete the verification process based on the collection of documents as specified by the Department of Education (DOE).
  • Send regular communications notifying students of missing documents necessary for determination of financial aid eligibility.
  • Correct and transmit ISIR information to the Federal Data Base, when correction are needed for awarding Federal Aid. 
  • Run credit checks for Federal Direct Parent Plus loans when eligible.
  • Manage Student workers assigned to the department.
  • Certify and process alternative loans for students.

  • Ensure student's submission of required documentation such as Master Promissory Notes (MPN), Entrance Counseling, Exit Counseling etc.
  • Package and award students Federal and Institutional funds per Federal guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Follow up with parents and/or lenders concerning any problems/issues with aid processing or disbursements.
  • Send regular correspondence to student/families. Pull reporting regularly as needed to track packaging and aid as needed.
  • Renew student's financial aid packages for subsequent academic year and ensure the students are Set Financially. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • One to four years financial aid experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication sills, including the ability to relate effectively with many types of individual, and ability to clearly and persuasively to deliver first class customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Anthology Student (CampusVue) a plus
SCHEDULE:
  • 40 hours per week. Mostly remote. In office one day a week.
  • Flexible daytime schedule anywhere from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., based on need.
  • Occasional Saturday required.

Rate of pay:$25-$30/hourly
