We're looking for a talented Software Development Manager to lead a engineering team and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to design, and develop innovative automotive-shopping experiences for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
As Software Development Manager you will build an engineering team responsible for delivering significant features across this new automotive shopping initiative. You will work directly with product management to define requirements and apply your technical expertise and leadership skills to organize and guide your team to solve difficult software problems in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work with your team to create and execute technical goals, roadmaps and vision that deliver amazing customer experiences and inspire your engineers to build innovative, high-quality and operationally excellent software and systems. You will lead the technical planning, coordination, architecture, and implementation of multiple programs across this new automotive shopping initiative.
A day in the life
As Software Development Manager, you and your engineering team will work alongside Designers, Program Managers and Product Managers to create and execute on product and tech roadmaps. You will manage the lifecycle (architecture, design, implementation, documentation and measurement) of your team's software. You will collaborate with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
New York, NY, USA
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Has had at least two years’ of experience working on large scale distributed computing systems or direct experience with building billing systems.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment.
- Has a track record of successfully participating in roadmap prioritization with product management; able to successfully communicate complex topics to customers and business executives alike
- Has demonstrated the ability to hire and retain top performers, and lead a high performing team
- Has the ability to work at all levels in the organization, with no job being considered too large or small.
- This leader will be a strategic thinker and experienced operator. They will likely have built their career up the software development or product management function and evolved into a skilled engineering leader, leading teams of at least 6 people.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
