DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Project Kuiper’s Government Solutions (KGS) is to leverage Kuiper and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to United States and allied government customers. In order to best understand our government customer’s needs, KGS will participate in numerous events (ie: Conferences, executive presentations, in-person, hybrid, and virtual events).
Key job responsibilities
The Head of KGS Global Events will be responsible for engaging Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) team’s diverse customers focusing on global Government customer base. In this global role, the Head of KGS Global Events will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, and production of all KGS events. Activities range in scale and complexity from executing a strategy for large-scale conference and convention activations to organizing and leading intimate Kuiper Facility visits and tours. This role has high visibility and will work closely with other marketing teams, design, business development, product, executive leadership and other stakeholders/contributors. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who excels in change management and can apply their understanding of the business to events in ways that deliver strong ROI and delights attendees. The successful candidate will be involved in the production of key event activity, while also leading and managing external resources to coordinate a broad scope of events in support of strategic initiatives. Projects include internal communication events, industry conferences, exhibitions, rocket launches, the Kuiper Facilities Visit Programs, engagement events and seminars.
The Head of KGS Global events will work closely with KGS marketing lead, Kuiper Head of Event, Kuiper Marketing and Public Relations team members to ensure all events (both classified and unclassified) are carried out in adherence to the yearly event calendar that the leader in this role develops and owns. Collaboration is important as the calendar is based on the needs of the business and strategic priorities. Extensive production experience, detailed budget control, adherence to all internal audit requirements and close collaboration with internal partners is also a priority. The leader is responsible for identifying appropriate third-party vendors and managing these vendors to deliver services in keeping with the high-standards and defined expectations of Project Kuiper.
The ideal candidate for this role has a unique ability to take a diverse, complex range of business inputs and verticals, and translate them into a clear vision and marketing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and manage all B2G/government events (1st party and 3rd party) and represent KGS in events that span business wide to ensure seamless production and activation of event strategy, adherence to guidelines and standards, high quality output, creative problem solving and efficient, cost-effectiveness.
• Drive innovative in-person, hybrid, and virtual events end-to-end on a global scale (both classified and unclassified as business needs direct). Handle and oversee all aspects of event production, coordination, logistics and external vendor management.
• Develop briefing agendas and facilitate experiences that connect Kuiper executive leaders, technical subject matter expert, and customers for strategic, 1:1 outcome-based discussions
• Lead collaborative project teams to create and drive inspired experiences including concept, vision, comms, web, registration, main stage and breakout programming, visual design, event tech, video content, and related logistics, working in partnership with Brand and Creative, B2B Marketing, B2C Marketing, PR, BD, and other internal business stakeholders.
• Develop and manage work back plan and cross-functional timelines, detailed project plans, and workstream requirements; act as the source of truth for all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead and manage strategy and execution/logistics including budgeting and financial management, venue, agency, calendaring/scheduling, speaker prep, contracts, vendors, deliverables tracking, delighters, food and beverage, etc.
• Demonstrate measurable business impact based on the goals outlined for each experience. Use post-event analytics and data to inform recommendations for future events.
• Maintain a strong and collaborative partnership with internal Kuiper Teams and other Amazon partners, and work with them to develop activation plans for all events.
• Lead events confidently via clear communication. Define key expectations and objectives.
• Travel to scout venues in markets as needed and prepare venue overviews.
• Travel to events and oversee event while on site.
• Provide support on all production elements, including management of problematic situations to exemplify grace under pressure.
• Review final vendor contracts (i.e., caterers, lighting, sound, décor, etc.), prior to submitting to Legal, and adhere to all event best practices (competitive bidding, cost control, insurance, security, etc.).
• Manage end-to-end briefing planning process for executive briefings.
• Collaborate with Kuiper Global Events, Kuiper Brand & Creative Team on event assets and timelines.
• Develop post-event recaps, including post-event reports and recaps outlining business impact and ROI.
• Work closely with the Kuiper Commercial Marketing team on the strategy and execution plan of the event calendar.
• Review budget status, event activation plans (including recommended key vendors), creative concept integration, collaborations and general event progress updates on a regular basis.
• Independently plan, produce and execute key, large scale events from start to finish for KGS.
• Role is global in nature – will work with teams that support a global presence. Build strong internal relationships and campaigns across Amazon.
• Other responsibilities, as defined by business requirements.
Security Clearance : Candidates must have recent or active US Government security clearance of TS/SCI and be able to maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, so you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration.
This position is in Arlington, VA. Overnight and limited weekend travel will be required, as needed to support events.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BA/BS in business, communications, telecommunications, marketing or related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 6 years direct event production experience.
- 6 years of principal event production skills including logistics management.
- 6 years demonstrated project management, prioritization and planning skills, including ability to manage several initiatives/events at once.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- A Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree preferred.
- Expert knowledge of principal event production skills including logistics management.
- Exceptional project management, prioritization and planning skills, including ability to manage several initiatives/events at once.
- Ability to conceptualize, scope, and execute projects to strict deadlines.
- Anticipate potential issues and resolution of conflicts and problems during event execution.
