Alyeska Resort is Hiring a Laborer Near Anchorage, AK

Laborer

Responsible for general construction, woodworking, finishing and touch ups around the Resort.

Position responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading tools or raw materials.
  • Assembling scaffolding or other pieces of equipment.
  • Digging or filling in pits throughout the construction process.
  • Clearing debris from construction structures.
  • Operating light and heavy equipment.
  • Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material.
  • Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site.
  • Handle and transport materials and equipment.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks.
  • Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures.
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for all maintenance and repair all painted surfaces and wall covering surfaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Good customers service skills, interpersonal skills, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and with fumes.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
