SMS Equipment is looking for a Laborer who is looking to progress into a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our highly skilled team at our Anchorage, Alaska.

The shift rotation for this position is5x2.

The hourly rate for this position is$29.17 per hour plus applicable premiums.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for moving tools, equipment, and other materials to and from work areas.
• Deliver vehicles and pick-up vehicles from customer sites.
• Washing and detailing company vehicles to quality standards
• Assisting mechanical, electrical, and body repairs of heavy equipment.
• Perform general shop clean up and equipment/parts cleaning.
• Steam clean, prepare and paint components.
• Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have ahigh school diploma or equivalent and a keen interest in becoming a Heavy Duty Mechanic. Other requirements include:

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
• Ability to operate with a forklift and crane.
• Possess above average communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability and attitude to ensure compliance to all workplace health and safety policies.
• Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
• Possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, acute safety awareness.
• Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
• Possess a valid drivers license.
