Exempt Position Description
Position Title: Director, Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEMSN)
Program (Milwaukee, Location)
Date: Negotiable. Preferred start Date January 22, 2024
Department: JoAnn McGrath School of Nursing and Health Professions
Status: Full-time/12-month
Reports to: Dean of the the JoAnn McGrath School of Nursing & Health
Professions (JMSNHP)
Primary Function: The Director of the DEMSN Program (Milwaukee Location) is
responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality educational programming
and student achievement of program outcomes at Averno College, Milwaukee Location.
Principle Responsibilities
Lead faculty in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the
DEMSN program curriculum, ensuring compliance with the accreditation
requirements of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), American Association of
Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(CCNE), regulations of the WI State Board of Nursing, and recommendations of
other professional nursing organizations as appropriate.
Maintain communication and work cooperatively with JMSNHP Leadership,
Alverno College Leadership, nursing and interdisciplinary faculty colleagues
and staff, and Alverno’s online program management partner.
Assess the instructional needs of students in the DEMSN program and
coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of a plan aimed at
addressing those needs.
Assess the professional needs of faculty teaching in the DEMSN program and make
recommendations to meet those needs.
Communicate and network with outside organizations to maintain and
expand effective, mutually beneficial relationships with clinical
experience partner agencies.
Participate in the hiring and professional development of DEMSN faculty.
Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
Participate in budget development and management.
Assist in the scheduling of DEMSN courses.
Coordinate and evaluate course books/resources and textbook orders.
Serve on JMSNHP College committees.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree required; PhD in nursing
preferred.
2. Current, unencumbered WI RN licensure
3. Minimum of two years of demonstrated successful administrative leadership in an
accredited school of nursing.
4. Minimum of five years of demonstrated successful teaching experience in an accredited school
of nursing.
5. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, equity, and multicultural

the College’s strategic plan for inclusive excellence.
