Looking to join something new and make your mark on the field of social work? Our online MSW program is
seeking accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education and enrolled the first students to the program in
the fall of 2023. The Program’s mission is to promote transformative change by looking to abolitionist practices
and frameworks. The program offers electives for Clinical/Substance Abuse, School Social Work, and
Community organizing, all with an abolitionist focus. This new innovative program, co-created by social work
faculty and other Milwaukee leaders, seeks to hold core programmatic practices such as co-facilitated
classroom philosophies, feedback as education, and transformational relationships as catalysts for connection,
learning, and liberative change.
Alverno College is seeking experienced applicants for a full-time, ten-month faculty position as an Assistant,
Associate or Full Professor Master of Social Work Chair and Social Work Director beginning in the 2024-25
academic year, with a possible start in Summer 2024. This appointment is an exempt position and will be
administered through an initial rolling contract (two-year probationary) with renewal under a standard rolling
contract every three years after the probationary period. A rolling contract may, with appropriate approval, be
converted to a tenure track position if eligible and approved by the Chief Academic Officer. Salary and academic
rank will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Alverno College health, disability,
and retirement plan enrollment is available to full time employees and eligible dependents. Tuition benefits are
available for employees and qualified dependents.
