Department: Housekeeping Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor performs supervisory work in managing the housekeeping and laundry department staff. This position requires supervisory abilities, along with extensive knowledge of institutional housekeeping operations, including supplies ordering, cleaning procedures, and equipment operation.
JOB SKILLS:
1. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
2. Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, supplies, equipment, and materials.
3. Ability to work independently, problem solve and make decisions as necessary.
4. Strong leadership skills.
5. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to recognize, schedule and accomplish priorities.
6. Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
7. Ability to communicate effectively.
8. Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.
PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:
1. Interacts with customers, families, visitors, facility subsidiary personnel.
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/ participation may be required.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school degree or equivalent is required, along with management and/or supervisory skills training and experience.
2. Experience in supplies ordering and cleaning equipment operation is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Manages the Housekeeping Department to ensure the provision of a clean and safe environment for customers, visitors and staff;
2. Develops and assigns work schedules for personnel in the housekeeping and laundry departments;
3. Orders supplies necessary to effectively and efficiently perform housekeeping ad laundry functions;
4. Recruits, selects and orients housekeeping and laundry staff;
5. Inspects the facility on a regular basis to determine the effectiveness of the housekeeping function;
6. Ensures that the building is maintained in an odor free and clean condition;
7. Takes immediate action on any observed deficiencies;
8. Maintains all necessary records;
9. Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel as well as counsels/disciplines assigned personnel according to the established company personnel policy;
10. Completes time cards and prepares departmental payroll according to the payroll cycles of the facility;
11. Ensures that all equipment is maintained in proper working condition;
12. Ensures compliance with all facility policies and procedures and government regulations;
13. Assists in performing housekeeping duties as needed;
14. Performs other duties as requested.
15. Manages the Laundry Department including: collecting, washing, drying, sorting and folding of laundry;
16. Develops and assigns work schedules to Laundry Department;
17. Inspects laundered items for cleanliness on a regular basis;
18. Recruits, selects, and orients Laundry Department staff;
19. Orders supplies necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the laundry functions;
20. Maintains all necessary records;
21. Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel as well as counsel/discipline assigned personnel according to established company policies;
22. Completes time cards and prepares departmental payroll according to the payroll cycles of the facility;
23. Ensures that all equipment is maintained in proper working condition;
24. Participates in budget development process.
25. Assists in performing laundry duties as needed.
26. Ensures compliance with all facility policies and procedures and government regulations.
27. Performs other duties as requested.
