Alutiiq is Hiring a QC Safety Environmental Manager Near Hampton, VA

Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises has an exciting opportunity supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley – Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.

The QC Safety Environmental Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality control, safety and environmental programs designed to ensure assignments and performance are following contract specifications, applicable regulations, and company policy and procedures. Further, develops and implements programs to prevent or correct unsafe safety and environmental working conditions by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel or other department managers.

  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Designs and implements quality control training programs to personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Creates and implements Inspection Criteria, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Policies. Interprets quality control philosophy to key company personnel. Conducts inspections throughout project phases and work accomplishments; and conducts weekly audits of all completed service orders to ensure completion within contractual time limitations. Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Investigates and responds to customer complaints regarding quality. Works with vendors to ensure quality of all purchases for company use.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safety. Monitors and controls company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.
  • Develops and implements a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries. Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident and incident reports.
  • Identify and correct potential hazards; and to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Request air quality tests of confined spaces for presence of harmful gases and vapors. Creates and directs environmental test functions.
  • Determines requirements for personal protective equipment and devices, and designs, builds, and installs, or directs installation of, safety devices on machinery. Conducts monthly safety training and coordinates first aid training (CPR) to educate workers about safety procedures, policies, laws, and practices.
  • Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included. Inspects facilities fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree ( A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, federal, and state safety and environmental regulations, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspond and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Computer Software Skills: Microsoft EXCEL and Microsoft Word.
