SUMMARY:

The controller must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Possesses knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Monitors and confirms financial conditions by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Manages internal financial controls for regulatory compliance.
  • Develops, interprets, and implements systems and processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages the accumulation, recording, preparation and reporting of financial data; prepares, analyzes, and reconciles financial statements and related reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinates annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents.
  • Coordinates all internal and external financial audits.
  • Manages all budget process activities; forecasts all company operational and financial aspects.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress.
  • Provides specialized analyses in support of all business functions.
  • Provides analysis and evaluation of business strategies; assists with company strategic planning.
  • Ensures compliance with statutory payroll and property tax reporting.
  • Monitors receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated.
  • Oversees accounts payable function including but not limited to compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Assists with special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or five or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills required: ERP accounting software and QuickBooks, MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and kneel as needed to use equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be comfortable working in a facility where explosives and ammunition are manufactured, handled, and frequently expended for testing and demonstration purposes.
  • Remote work flexibility.
