We boast mineral deposit discoveries, superior data integration and interpretation tools, and enhanced geoscience exploration consulting supported by specialised data tools.About the role Remote | Full-time | Senior LevelThe Senior Project Geologist position is focused on effective completion of geoscience and machine learning assisted targeting projects for our mineral exploration and mining clients. The holder of this position is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and final delivery of client projects ensuring high quality of work and maintaining positive client relationships. As a senior level role, it includes management of small teams and mentorship of junior employees.Key Responsibilities:Consulting Expertise: Provide specialist consulting services to exploration and mining companies. Promote integration of geological, geochemical and geophysical datasets with machine learning outputs for exploration targeting. Perform site visits and provide technical guidance to clients.Programme Management: Ensure timely and quality delivery of progress reports and final technical reports to clients. Monitor and report on project budget.Client Engagement: Organise and lead project kick-off, progress, and close-out meetings with clients. Effectively communicate and describe technical aspects to clients in a professional and knowledgeable manner.Mentorship and Team Management: Effective coordination and collaboration of project team members. Train and mentor junior team members and contractors. Participate in professional development programmes.Business Development: Support the Business Development Manager with client communications, conference representation, and preparation of technically robust client proposals.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Assist other ALS GoldSpot departments and provide technical support for the Research and Development, Software Development, and Artificial Intelligence units. Travel as required to ALS GoldSpot offices for training and project collaboration.Health and Safety: Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Technical Review and Compliance: Conduct technical due diligence on client projects. Conduct peer review and technical editing of reports. Ensure compliance with JORC, NI 43-101 or other related Code reports as a Competent Person or Qualified Person.About you:Proven expertise in data integration and targeting with a variety of geological environments and mineralization styles.Demonstrated skill and success in managing collaborative geoscience projects with a commitment to technical leadership.Proficiency in integrating diverse geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and data science datasets for mining and mineral exploration.Specialist-level knowledge in either exploration geochemistry, spectral geology, structural geology, 3D modelling, or remote sensing.Proven capability to articulate complex concept to diverse audiences, delivering clear and concise reports and presentations.Advanced user of GIS software such as QGIS and 3D software such as LeapFrogExcellent verbal and written communication skills (English required; English-French preferred)Required Qualifications:A minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral exploration including project management, field mapping and core loggingPost secondary degree in geology, geological sciences, or geological engineering (Masters Degree preferred)Registered Professional Geoscientist in relevant jurisdiction and ability to obtain Ordre des Geologue du Quebec (OGQ) designation.Valid full Provincial driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.Physical Demands:Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;Ability to conduct physically demanding geological field work in remote areas.Working at ALS Our people are our most valuable asset and drive our success at ALS. We are a diverse community of dedicated professionals united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
