Alphabet City Child Care Center is Hiring a Teacher Assistant Near Long Island, NY

Teacher Asst-Toddler/Preschool/Pre-K ( 2 year-old classroom)
Join our dedicated team of devoted teachers who love children to make a positive difference every day in their lives. We are looking to immediately hire several Teacher Assistants. Our spacious beautiful, new and clean space is pleasant to work in and provides a mutually beneficial environment for everyone to enjoy. We have an exciting opportunity for Teachers Assistants who are highly motivated, energetic and have a positive attitude and love to nurture children to join our team.
Under the general direction of the Child Care Director and Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant would work with the Lead Teacher to implement the classroom curriculum and activities. May assume classroom leadership in the absence of the Lead Teacher. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on our values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. The position may be responsible to serve as a liaison between the Child Care Director and families participating in the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining the organization/appearance and décor of the assigned classroom (bulletin boards, displays, storage areas, general classroom cleanliness, etc.).
  • Assist Lead Teacher in implementing an age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Work with different age groups and classes upon request as needed.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe classroom environment for children.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and workshops to enhance professional growth.
  • Provide consistent interaction, encouragement, and nurturance for all children on all levels, Floors, sitting at tables, etc.)
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Assist in response to all parent inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Attend training and meetings in absence of the Lead Teacher, and at other times as requested and appropriate.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma, college credits/degree in Education preferred.
  • Must have experience in a daycare center (nanny and babysitter experience does not count)
  • One (1) to two (2) years of related experience in a group setting with preschool children.
  • Experience in assisting with curriculum implementation and being a contributing team member is essential.
  • Maintain training requirements as required by the Office of Licensing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, parents and youth.
  • Ability to problem solve and take the initiative that adheres to the purpose, mission and goals of our daycare facility.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as a role model and take initiative to identify potential risk factors and take measures to reduce them.
  • First-Aid, CPR and AED certification and EpiPen trained within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
