DESCRIPTION:

The Nassau BOCES Department of RSIP is seeking an Emergency Medical Services teacher to teach the New York State Emergency Medical Technician curriculum in conjunction with the Nassau Emergency Medical Services Academy. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Teach the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) curriculum (Nassau County protocols) including adapting to changes in the protocol for both New York State and Nassau County.
• Review Hazardous Materials Operations level (IFSTA curriculum).
• * Adapt lessons to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.

REQUIREMENTS:

• New York State Education Department Certification: Transitional A, Initial or Professional in Emergency Medical Services 7-12.
• New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC)/Certified Laboratory Instructor (CLI) certifications (within the past two years).
• Verified 4 years of experience in the field of Emergency Medical Services.
• Firefighter Instructor and/or Hazardous Materials certifications are preferred.
• Prior teaching experience or experience working with the secondary student population is preferred.
