Alpenrose Dairy, a 100 year old iconic Portland brand has need of a strong Assistant Wareouse Manager. We recently moved our operations to Clackamas and with the move have upgraded our inventory control and order selection processes.

The Assistant Warehouse Manager provides management oversight of all warehouse operations under the direction of our Warehouse Manager and VP of Operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the daily warehouse operations (picking and loading) is conducted with accuracy and efficiency while receiving inventory from our fluid dairy plant and outside vendors.

Some of the areas of daily responsibility are:

• Manage and train employees to execute day-to-day responsibilities; oversee all personnel during 2 shifts with the support of 2 union supervisors. This is especially true now as we are changing processes that are very different than were used in the past.
• Drive warehouse efficiency and improvement, with a focus on order accuracy (pick and load), FIFO rotation of product, recording and reduction of waste, and overall labor productivity.
• Solutions based approach while identifing process bottlenecks; work on process flow improvement throughout the warehouse.
• Work effectively across the company to ensure successful planning and implementation of an inventory control strategy. Collaborate with production to improve accuracy of the perpetual inventory count and product rotation.
• Mentor our union supervisors.
• Manage and train new employees, including onboarding and implementing a new hire training program, performance management, etc.
• In colobration with the Warehouse Manager, define and manage to key performance metrics, including labor productivity, order pick accuracy, out-of-stock rate, product waste rate.
• Partner and collaborate internal and external managers and vendors, building strong business relationships.
• Train, mentor and coach team members; building adaptable and flexible teams in a union environment.
• Drive safety compliance and iniitives in the warehouse.
• Work colobratively with managers and coworkers.

Qualifications needed to be successful:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or related field of study preferred.
• 3 years of hands on experience managing a warehouse operation in a manufacturing environment and preferably in a F & B operation.
• Software proficiency as it relates to general business functions, warehouse management systems and supply chain activities preferred.
• Abiility to work a mid shift and swing shift schedule.
• Optimistic outlook & get it done attitude is required. A large does of humor on the side is preferred.
