Job Summary

As the Underwriting Team Leader your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the assignment of daily work, overseeing the underwriting assistants, and responding to escalated phone calls or emails. You will report and work with the Director of Underwriting to ensure that all goals and expectations of the department are being met while assisting the rest of the underwriting team.

Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, advanced organizational skills, and a strong ability to multi-task effectively are essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily and weekly workload of the Underwriting Team
• Implement and manage robust QA process to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, state mandated timelines, and contractual requirements.
• Work closely with the Vice President of Marketing and Territory Managers on strategies to support new business and the retention of existing customers.
• Evaluates and recommends changes to underwriting procedures and/or systems used for underwriting.
• As assigned, support key Underwriting projects designed to drive efficiency and automation.
• Support the day-to-day operations of the Allied Trust Underwriting Team
• Point of contact for BPO and Claims Team
• Responds and handles escalated calls, service requests, and emails from agents/insureds
• Function as a SME and lend assistance for questions.
• Train, mentor, and support the learning of team members ensuring that processes and procedures are documented and maintained post implementation.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 3-5 years prior underwriting or senior underwriting experience
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with Smartsheet and Jira considered a plus
• Exceptional Written and Verbal Communication skills
• Proactive Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking abilities
• Strong Ability to Anticipate and Attention to Detail
• Excellent Time Management and Prioritization skills
