Job Summary:

The Electrical Sub Assembly Team Leader is expected to have strong electrical knowledge and perform the required functions of boat building including working on hulls, decks, small parts, sub-assemblies and finished boats while leading their team in the areas of HSE, Quality, Delivery and Team development. Responsibilities include developing and mentoring team members. Ensure that all Quality Systems, HSE Systems, handbook policies and production planning processes are applied successfully. The Team Lead ensures the product is completed to the quality standards and specifications of the boat order.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead Sub Assembly Team, strong emphasis on electrical systems
  • Ensure HSE policies are followed on a daily basis including housekeeping
  • Follow Bertram’s safety plan including wearing and maintaining required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Monitor team and ensure ethical and safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain tools, ensure tools work properly and equipment is cleaned
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment and supplies, keep records available for managements review, evaluation, maintenance, and re-stocking purposes
  • Ensure product meets the work order requirements and quality standards at each station/step
  • Complete in-station inspection processes and ensure the quality traveler is completed correctly
  • Report issues, malfunctions or defective parts to the Production Manager
  • Develop the tactical (3-5 days) plan for stations/teams that are in alignment with the jobs per station and production schedule
  • Validate the material and equipment needed is accurate and present to complete the required work
  • Ensure the attendance policy is followed, monitor tardies, leave earlies, absences, and update attendance counseling notices with the Production Manager
  • Manage and report on team performance metrics for Safety, Quality and Delivery
  • Assist Human Resources with recruiting and interviewing new team members
  • Participate in the performance review process for team members
  • Motivate team to enhance production quantity while maintaining high production standards
  • Operate and use equipment properly and safely
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED Required
  • Preferred 2 year of marine/boat manufacturing experience
  • Trained and certified in the applicable standards (Bertram Quality, ABYC, USCG, OSHA, etc.…)
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings and to accurately measure
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Office)
  • Ability to lead others and maintain a positive working environment
  • Strong logic, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and reasoning skills to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to train, coach and develop team
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time and resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to use hand tools, electric tools, and pneumatic tools including drills, saws, and grinders
  • Ability to use ladders and stairs to access boats
  • Ability to work in an non-climate-controlled environment
  • Ability to work in dusty environment and follow PPE guidelines including use of eye protection, gloves and respirators as required
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines to meet shipment schedules
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work Overtime, Weekends and Nights when required
