Our Organization
The Alliance for Human Services is a membership of over 90 organizations and legislators committed to improving the delivery of human services in Lake County. Through various programs and networking for executive and front-line workers, direct communication with legislators and timely information sharing, the Alliance provides the opportunity to foster collaboration as well as strengthen and continuously improve the capacity and delivery of human services in Lake County.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: AHS Board of Directors
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Independent Contracter - Part-time < 20 - 25 hrs/wk - Hybrid Workplace
The Executive Director oversees the programming and operations of the Alliance. The Executive Director plans, organizes and implements forward-looking programs and activities for the Alliance to assure strategic objectives are attained and member organizations are provided with value. Cultivates and maintains external relationships across all sectors of human service organizations and legislative offices. Achieves cost efficient, productive performance and amplifies the growth of the Alliance.
Responsibilities:
1. Membership/Outreach
a. Identifies and recruits new members.
b. Responds to membership inquiries, collects dues, and follows up with lapsed members.
c. Develops and maintains partnerships with legislative offices, Lake County Board, LCHD, state and local coalitions and leaders, human service organizations, schools, for profit organizations and media outlets.
d. Represents AHS in the community.
2. Programs
a. With Human Capital Committee, designs and executes programming that provides value to members based on legislative information, current events, needs and trends within the Lake County community.
b. Organizes and implements programs and analytically evaluates results versus objectives, including speakers for all meetings/events.
c. Analyzes/Utilizes metric results s to shape future implementations.
3. Financial Management
a. In cooperation with the Treasurer and consultation with accountant develops, recommends, and upon approval, operates within an annual budget.
b. Develops and implements a strategy for increasing sustainable non-dues revenue, identification of grant sources. Some grant writing.
c. Ensures all funds, physical assets and property of the Alliance are appropriately administered and safeguarded.
d. Authorizes notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into on behalf of the organization.
4. Communications
a. Identifies and Informs Board of Directors on conditions, operations and factors of influence related to the Alliance and its members.
b. Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees.
c. Compile and distribute notes and information from events/committee meetings
d. Plans and manages all communications to the general membership including newsletters, email blasts, event announcements, and general correspondence.
e. Oversees creation of membership and marketing materials including flyers, directories, surveys, and others.
f. Oversees maintenance of the website and portals for members and board and directs the management of associated vendor(s) and staff.
5. Planning
a. Participates in strategic planning and manages operational planning.
b. Manages execution of short and long-term plans.
6. Staffing
a. Oversees contract employees/interns.
Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a high level of initiative coupled with an enthusiastic commitment to human services delivery in Lake County. The Executive Director serves as an ambassador with the ability to build strong working relationships with key constituencies. The position requires confident communications skills (both written and verbal), a working knowledge of Lake County itself and the human service organizations, non-profits and government entities within it.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred candidates will have 5 years of experience and networking in the human services field in Lake County.
Position Salary and Benefits
This is a part-time contractual position based on a monthly payment to be paid for 100 hours/month (equivalent of approximately 25 hours per week). The annual contractual amount is between $35,000 - $40,000. Benefits are not provided.

Alliance Human Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides treatment foster care. AHS is a long-standing member of VALCPA and the Foster Family-Based Treatment Association and is CARF Accredited. Alliance Human Services specializes in challenging behaviors for youth up to 21 years of age. We provide short-term and respite placements, as well as long-term, pre-adoptive placements. Alliance Human Services provides weekly face-to-face meetings, treatment and service planning, 24-hour on-call support as well as on-going training and other services. Alliance has developed and implemented systems for assuring quality of care and are regularly collecting outcome data to evaluate our effectiveness in order to make program improvements.
