Job Description

The Campus Recruiting Specialist will work directly with the Student Programs Manager and partners with our Talent Acquisition Manager recruiting team, Regional Operations team, and hospital leaders to anticipate and meet the continuously evolving veterinary staffing needs of our hospital network.

This role will be responsible for developing and executing a campus recruiting strategy focused on Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students.

The position will engage with current DVM veterinary students, some veterinary tech campus events (as needed) through various on-campus and the occasional virtual initiatives.

The Campus Recruiting Specialist will nurture relationships to eventually bring candidates on board at one of our practices as a student extern and then eventually an active career opportunity candidate.

The position will maintain and continue to build ongoing relationships with our veterinary university partners. The position will also have significant interaction with our regional managers and hospital leaders (doctor partners and practice managers) across each practice in our network.

Join us and work in a collaborative environment, leveraging your strong network skills, sales experience, excellent sourcing expertise and customer service to find the very best veterinarian talent for our partner hospitals.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Full involvement in the consultation and recruiting process of DVM veterinary students : from outreach to consultation to engaging as a career opportunity candidate, through to the start date.
  • Utilize social media and other networking platforms to build candidate pipeline.
  • Coordinate and help schedule interviews; provide communication summary of candidate conversations to both partner hospital and Regional Management Team
  • Ensure company staffing and externship needs are filled in a timely manner, and that the company maintains a robust pipeline of qualified candidates.
  • Develop lunch lectures and workshops for veterinary students in collaboration with Student Programs Manager (on campus and virtual)
  • Collaborate with business development and Student Programs Manager to focus on schools located in states where AAH is expanding.
  • Applicant phone screening : qualify potential student candidates for externships, internships and residencies based on geography preference and hospital preferences.
  • Engage and frequently communicate with university faculty network to maintain strong ties with the schools.
  • Connect and build relationships with AVMA accredited veterinary DVM programs to ensure AAH is as involved as possible (partner with Regional Manager team to help coordinate for local event participation)
  • Advertise and manage open DVM student externship position requisitions across industry hiring platforms on behalf of practices.
  • Regular follow up with respective Partner Veterinarians, Regional Managers and Practice Managers to ensure timeliness of the externship and recruitment process.
  • DVM student community consultation and outreach to engage externship and career opportunity candidates.
  • Help continue to build and maintain a robust Applicant Tracking System and Recruiting CRM with relevant metrics and candidate data.
  • Engage in all veterinary student staffing related activities and externships and participate as needed in cross functional projects.
  • Oversee and manage the planning and execution of all veterinary student program events in partnership with the Student Programs Manager (presentations, social outings with students, and career fairs)
  • Responsible for career fairs and any campus-related event registration and travel coordination as needed in assigned areas.
  • Work closely with Student Ambassador team for event planning and sponsorship opportunities in assigned areas.
  • Up to 75% travel may be expected during peak travel times. (September - May) Travel % may decrease as team expands.

Exempt Position

Salary : Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Compensation will consist of a base salary and performance-based variable pay opportunities.

Qualifications

Skillset

  • Campus Recruitment or veterinary recruitment experience
  • Emergency / Specialty recruiting experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and team building
  • Social Media experience
  • Event planning / hosting experience
  • Comfortable and confident with giving presentations to large groups about AAH and our veterinary student programs (virtually or on campus)
  • Energetic, friendly, motivated, self-starter
  • Highly organized and able to manage time effectively. Able to work independently, remotely and with a team.
  • Ability to think creatively and market : think outside of the box to set us apart and / or catch a candidate's attention.
  • Persuasiveness- When engaging a potential new candidate, you actively listen and tailor your approach to specific candidates or specific needs while understanding the limits of persuasion vs being pushy.
  • Self-starter that is excited to work in an entrepreneurial environment and can take initiative while still being part of a team environment.
  • A professional in-person and phone presence required, and industry knowledge preferred to help communicate our hospitals and value propositions favorably to students who are likely considering multiple opportunities.
  • Previous experience pipelining specific roles and capabilities as well as building and nurturing relationships and talent pools in service of future hiring needs.
  • Must live within 50 miles of a major airport.
  • Passport required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
