Allen Industries Inc is Hiring a Quality Control Specialist Near Greensboro, NC

Job Summary: The position of Quality Control Specialist ensures the quality of the products built and delivered are according to the agreed-upon customer requirements. Performs tasks associated with efficient and timely shipping of product.

Essential Functions: 

  1. Quality Control:
  1. Check quality of product going through plant
  2. Identify quality issues and bring to the attention of the Plant Manager and work toward correcting issues as quickly as possible
  3. Inspect signage to ensure UL48 standards as being followed
  4. Continue to refine the quality control process and bring ideas for improvement to production manager
  5. Ensure photographs are taken of all product before it leaves the plant including pre and post loading
  6. Download and sort photographs to folders on external hard drive
  1. Help with special projects going through shop
  2. Assist with prototypes

4. Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company

  1. Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
  2. Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
  3. Informs management of any safety related issues
  1. Other duties as assigned

  10. Ability to read blue prints and interpret sign/shop drawings and specifications
  11. Thoroughness/detailed
  12. Time management
  13. Apply personal safety measures including utilizing the correct PPE
  14. Ability to use electric hand tools
  15. Ability to take measurement of a job (ex: using a tape measure, steel rule, tri square)
  16. Knowledge of carpentry skills 
  17. Leadership – demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  18. Problem analysis and resolution
  19. Performance management
  20. Collaboration skills

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to perform the following activities: 

  1. Standing.
  2. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  3. Sitting. Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time.
  4. Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers.
  5. Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  6. Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  7. Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  8. Light work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  9. Visual Acuity. To perform close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection.
  10. Reaching: Extending hands and arms in all direction
  11. Forward bending, squatting, overhead reaching, kneeling/crawling, and climbing
  12. Continuous standing
  13. Lifting: Up to 70 lbs and team lifting up to 100 lbs
  14. Carry and use 5 lb to 10 lb power tools or paint containers very frequently
  15. Pushing and pulling
  16. Moderate level of hand to eye coordination and dexterity including picking, pinching, holding, grasping and repetitive flexion/rotation

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with overtime as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: No travel required.

Educational Requirements:

  1. Highschool diploma or GED.

Preferred Educational Requirements:

  1. Technical school training or certification.

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Proficient in common PC based software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
  2. Strong data entry skills
  3. Experience with Macola EM 10 preferred
  4. Experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment
  5. Forklift certification
  6. Overhead crane certification
  7. LED light installation and wiring
  8. Knowledge of UL 48 standards
  9. Forklift certificate
  10. Operate electric and pneumatic tools
  11. General construction methods
  12. Hand tools
  13. OSHA general industry standards
