Engineering Office Manager

Do you aspire to become an engineering department manager? Completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.

This position would require the following:

1. Technical proficiency to understand what we have in place and be able to think outside the box on solving problems.

2. Management capacity to see what tools will be beneficial for our customers, require office protocols and plans are followed, establishing, and growing the core potential of each person on the team, and building a group of people that work together for the greater good.

3. The ability to sell what we create and why Production Partners, Design Professionals, Contractors, and Dealers would want to use the tools training, resources, support, and of course our products because of the value we deliver to make their job easier.

Skills used and Developed:

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee our engineering team that supports our national and international producing network. In doing so the manager will use a variety of skills that they may already possess and will also be taught and improved upon by the existing team at Allan Block. They will be required to perform engineering duties as outlined below, but many of the duties will rely on communication skills, project management and training. No prior management experience is required as we provide training to assist in developing the specific skills required to bring value to the company and our customers. Some of the many skills that we will help you develop or enhance upon what you already have are:

• Learning specific design skills to deal with Site Solution Problems. Collectively we will work to make you an expert in our industry.
• Developing and working with software programs to assist in minimizing repetitive processes and capturing critical data to manage opportunities and growth.
• Calling on/developing new contacts and growing business with existing engineers and specifiers throughout North America.
• Working with and assisting the engineering team move specific initiatives forward while also supporting our producing/partnering network in a professional manner.
• Provide preliminary structural designs for geotextile reinforced segmental block retaining walls, and steel reinforced segmental block fences.
• Act as a technical consultant to provide design and construction assistance to the national/international user community of engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and homeowners.
• Propose ways to improve the efficiency of our in-house engineering team and for our customers around the world.
• Public speaking in training and presentation settings with different customer groups including engineers, contractors, and manufacturers.
• Participate in special projects as needed. These projects include website and design software development, marketing and business planning, and new product research and improvement.
• Use of the following software (previous knowledge not required): Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Mathcad, AB Walls 15, ReSSA, MSEW, NCMA SRwalls.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
