  1. POSITION BACKGROUND

This is a corporate accounting position reporting to the VP Controller. The position will focus on Accounting, Reporting, Audit and Tax coordination. Key facets of the job will be working with the internal operations, external audit and tax groups and working on financial statements for the sponsors and debt holders. This position will also work closely with the operations and IT. If you are looking for a challenge, this is a great position with room to grow.

  1. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  1. Finance and Accounting
    1. Oversee the activities of the accounting group to ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, on a group and consolidated basis and related management reports.
    2. Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to support the organization and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
    3. Research technical accounting issues including goodwill valuation issues.
    4. Lead the external financial reporting process, including managing the external audit process and tax accountants.
    5. Establish and maintain solid financial policies, practices, and procedures for the company in accordance with GAAP.
    6. Maintain enterprise level financial consolidation system.
    7. Develop internal financial metrics dashboard and reporting tools.
    8. Manage accounting for holdcos and tracking and accounting for equity and options issued.
    9. Perform ad-hoc analyses to support company initiatives.
  2. Treasury
    1. Monitor the weekly cash flows against forecast and actual results to improve the forecasting and ensure that adequate funds are available for the operations.
    2. Monitor the debt balances and ensure that required renewals, borrowings, repayments, and interest payments are tracked and completed in a timely manner.
    3. Manage the banking and credit card relationships.
  3. Risk
    1. Enhance and develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and procedures to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation and minimize financial risks.
    2. Perform balance sheet reviews of the operations, reviewing reconciliations and ensuring that the balances are appropriate.
  4. General
    1. Contribute to acquisition strategy through assessment of target company to identify risks, potential synergies, trends, and comparability with corporate accounting practices and oversee the integration of the acquired businesses into the company.
    2. Challenge existing processes and streamline or develop new ones where appropriate to facilitate future growth of the business while driving value throughout the organization.
    3. Develop and support sound relationships with internal groups (Accounting, Operations, Sales, HR) and external groups (bankers, board of directors and shareholders and auditors).
    4. If needed, fill in for controllers on an interim basis until either a permanent or interim replacement can be hired.
    5. Normal travel 10-15% but will increase if covering for a site controller.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
  1.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  1. Financial reporting experience and GAAP knowledge required.
  2. Experience identifying, modifying and implementing new controls, policies, and procedures.
  3. Hands-on pragmatic approach to business, asset management, cash flow and reporting required.
  4. Strong communication skills required.
  1. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE
  1. A minimum of seven years work experience on a progressive career growth path.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required, MBA or related Master’s degree preferred. CPA strongly preferred.
  3. Public accounting experience preferred.
  4. Experience with private equity, debt, and restructuring the finance operations preferred.
  5. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
