What Are We Looking for in the Ideal Candidates? We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Business Development who will have technical aerospace market expertise, a sharp customer focus, and a background in supply chain management services or a similar field to be onsite and oversee multiple departments. The successful candidate will be highly experienced in aerospace hardware sales and marketing, The ideal candidate is extremely organized, articulate, flexible, quick to grasp business needs, a team player, an excellent written and oral communicator, and eager to learn.

Knowledge the Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • In-depth knowledge of sales and marketing strategies and applications.
  • Thorough understanding of Aerospace Customer Service
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and principles
  • Expert knowledge of business management principles
  • Excellent material resources knowledge and application
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Understanding of financial management and resources
  • Understanding of business functionality
  • Knowledge of aerospace hardware trends
  • In-depth knowledge of contracts and long-term agreements
  • Broad commercial and business awareness, including the ability to understand value-based pricing and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Knowledge of customers’ purchasing department structures and decision-making processes.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Math, Engineering, Industrial Resources, or Economics or 7-10 years commensurate experience in the applicable field.
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 8 years of program management experience
  • 5 years in a leadership role.

Preferred:

  • In-depth knowledge of Aerospace fasteners, components, and best practices or similar industries.
  • Capacity to manage various projects and work to tight deadlines
  • Minimum 5 years of aerospace OEM sales

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

  • Directly manages any combination of Inside Sales Managers, Customer Service Managers, and Machined Product Engineering team members while indirectly managing their teams (25-30 total employees)
  • Support the needs of our external Customers while representing Align in a professional manner
  • Oversee customer order fulfillment functions, customer order review, order entry, expediting, and customer service activities.
  • Oversee preparation of sales quotations, sales orders, long-term/contract bids, contract language, part classification for investment, monthly metrics, annual customer forecasting/sales budgeting, and customer service measurements
  • Interact and coordinate with internal departments including Customer Service, Demand Planning, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, and Operations
  • Make quick decisions regarding pricing and margins for quotes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Review new contracts for service commitments and contribute to the development of new business opportunities
  • Develop and manage budgets and P&Ls
  • Develop business plans and sales strategies for each market segment that ensures the attainment of Company goals for growth and profitability.
  • Works with and assists the sales team by defining appropriate systems for identifying and qualifying marketing leads, and for managing an effective hand-off of qualified leads from strategic business development to sales and business unit teams.
  • Assists the business unit/design teams by producing document templates for quotes and proposals, and providing training to the teams on how to use them.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of sales methods, costs, and results.
  • Directly manages and or coordinates activities related to critically developing strategic customer accounts.
  • Assists business unit/design teams to provide timely, accurate, and competitive pricing on all completed quotes and proposals, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Creates and delivers proposal presentations and RFP responses as required.
  • Directly leads critical portions of business development proposals and presentations, and assists business unit/design teams in the preparation of proposals and presentations as needed.
  • Ensure that business unit/design teams and or sales associates meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and quotes.
  • Regularly establishes marketing and business development strategies and successful execution of those strategies.
  • Must be able to work on accounts that have strict federal contractual requirements for background and drug screening.

Travel

up to 35% between Align’s N. American Headquarters (Chatsworth), customers, and Align’sNorth American sales locations.

Salary Range: $130,000-170,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Align Aerospace considers several factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Align Aerospace provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K plans with match, Company holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
