Salary: $20.30-$24.75 hourly

Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.

The Harm Reduction & Outreach (HRO) Coordinator is responsible for the development and oversight of
day-to-day operations of our Harm Reduction & Outreach program, both on campus and in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor day-to-day outreach and syringe exchange activities of the HRO team on campus and in
    the field
  • Monitor and maintain all supplies for program including those obtained through NM Department of
    Health
  • Ensure highest levels of customer service
  • Provide training, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development of HRO Specialists
  • Design databases/spreadsheets and track all programmatic data
  • Train on field safety protocols for HRO staff, volunteers, and non-HRO staff participating in outreach 
  • Report accurate statistical and narrative program data to other AHCH leadership, Board, and
    funders through Program Review Committee
  • Coordinate and maintain all HRO certifications for applicable AHCH staff
  • Coordinate Naloxone (Narcan) training for AHCH staff, community members, and community
    partners
  • Develop and maintain protocols for onboarding new HRO staff and HRO volunteers
  • Represent AHCH in meetings and trainings with community partners
  • Develop, track, and maintain all performance goals/funding contract requirements of the Harm
    Reduction Outreach program
  • Ensure quality and compliance (including HIPAA) of all HRO activities
  • Work in an integrated manner with all AHCH departments to ensure access to wrap-around
    services for AHCH clients
  • Conduct program evaluations to determine opportunities to enhance client services and identify
    where barriers to client services exist within the HRO program
  • Track program budget in conjunction with Social Services Manager
  • Attend Program Review Committee meetings
  • Attend Manager/Coordinator meetings
  • Comply with all AHCH policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of leadership experience 
  • 3 years of outreach experience
  • History of excellent outreach experience and ability to train staff in outreach excellence
  • Thorough understanding of Harm Reduction philosophy and integration of philosophy with services
  • Willingness and comfort with being actively present during the varied hours (nights, weekends,
    early mornings, etc.) that outreach takes place
  • Willingness and ability to work with a diverse population, including those with substance use
    disorder and significant mental illness
  • Ability to work in a noisy sometimes unpredictable environment with multiple distractions/disruptions
  • Ability to work with peers to lead change, high performance, and innovation
  • Must have ability to analyze data and effectively communicate impact of data to AHCH
    leadership and staff
  • High level of organization and adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to work in an integrated manner with all levels of organizational staff
  • Previous experience working with underserved populations and/or those with SMI/CMI and/or
    substance abuse disorder
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, or relevant field, or commensurate
    relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, or relevant field, or commensurate
    relevant work experience
  • Harm reduction experience
  • Previous experience working in a FQHC or community healthcare setting
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
