Albany Law School is Hiring a Director of Admissions Near Albany, NY

The primary role of the Director of Admissions is to support the Assistant Dean for Admissions with all aspects of enrollment management, including office operations, recruitment, and yield.
Essential Job Functions
  • Creates and implements the Law School’s annual Recruitment and Communication Plans in coordination with communications and marketing department.
  • Tracks data and prepares statistical reports for internal administration, accreditation requirements, and updates on individual/regional/national trends.
  • Counsels prospective students and applicants. Reviews applications for admission and administers admission decisions in conjunction with the Assistant Dean.
  • Trains support staff, as necessary, with regard to all admissions software, office policies and procedures, and serves as primary user on admissions database.
  • Coordinates the admissions process for international students, including compiling necessary academic and financial documentation and acting as a Designated School Official for Department of Homeland Security’s SEVIS system.
  • Plans and executes outreach programs for regional and national Pre-Law Advisors and acts as coordinator for all accelerated programs and related activities.
  • Manages, coordinates and trains student employees and Law School Ambassadors.
  • In the absence of the Assistant Dean, manages office operations and presents admission information to the campus community (interdepartmental, Board of Trustees, or Alumni Association meetings).
  • Represents the Law School at on and off campus events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Admissions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational and management skills with the ability to multitask and navigate shifting deadlines and priorities.

  • Sound judgment and respect for confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability using databases, Microsoft Office Suite products, and social media tools.
  • Ability to travel extensively. Weekend and overnight stays required.
  • Ability to delegate and supervise others.
Qualification Standards
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. JD or master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, student personnel, or similar field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience. Law School Admissions or other higher education experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Valid passport or the ability to obtain one.

Compensation
The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 per year, plus comprehensive benefits package. Salary offered will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, and in consideration of internal equity.
