JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title: Assistant Business Office Manager

Department: Albany County Water Purification District

Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $61,800

Application Deadline: Until Filled

Note: This is a provisional appointment to a competitive class title. Incumbent will need to take, pass and be reachable on the certified list to be permanently appointed.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: These duties involve the responsibility for assisting in the business management functions in the department. This work includes the maintenance of financial accounts, purchasing, budget control, and payroll. The work is performed under the supervision of the Office Manager or department head. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Assists in the maintenance of financial accounts and various other records;
  • Assists in the development of fiscal policies and procedures;
  • Assists as liaison between department employees and County’s Human Resource and Civil Service Department for the purpose of managing employee payroll and benefits;
  • Compiles data for and assists in the preparation of the annual budget;
  • Supervises the purchasing of all equipment and supplies
  • Assists in the preparation of payrolls and audits;
  • Assists in the preparation of local, state, and federal financial and statistical reports.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERTISTICS:

  • Thorough knowledge of modern business administration procedures and methods;
  • Knowledge of purchasing, budgeting procedures, and accounting methods;
  • Ability to acquire familiarity with laws, policies, regulations, and practices;
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise financial reports
  • Dependability;
  • Good judgment;
  • Accuracy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with at least a Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or related field AND three (1) years of experience in office coordination that included accounts payable or accounts receivable activities AND payroll processing duties; OR,

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field AND five (3) years of experience as defined in (A.) above; OR,

C. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (5) years of experience as defined in (A.) above.
