REPORTS TO: CaptainFLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptSALARY GRADE RANGE: $17.91- $19.00 DOEDATE ADOPTED: March 2024JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision performs general clerical duties of moderate difficulty within the Detention Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:(The following are illustrative of essential functions to perform duties and responsibilities of the job. The position may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional tasks as needed by the Department.   • Effectively assist and display a professional demeanor with the public
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with staff, other agencies, and the public
  • Become familiar with criminal justice documents, state and federal statutes along with agency policy and procedures
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate effective verbally and in writing and by telephone with the public and staff
  • Comprehend and disseminate written material accurately
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements
  • Enter data into a keyboard device
  • Good interpersonal skills such as integrity, honesty, dependability and courtesy
  • Inputs data into various databases for review and dissemination with heavy emphasis on accuracy
  • Reviews and files paperwork in alphabetical, numerical, subject matter, or other related organizing order
  • Creates and maintains catalog of store or archived files as well as other operational longs and files. Retrieves records as requested and prepares copies for release. Purges and/or destroys obsolete files and data. All duties shall be performed in accordance with applicable laws and Sheriff’s Office policies.
  • May prepare and place supply orders and distribute orders to internal customers
  • Will assist with jail commissary duties
  • Performs other related job duties as required or assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge:
  • General understanding of criminal justice process.
  • Knows how to place supply orders and distribute orders to customers.

  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.
  • Can use office practices and procedures.
  • Has interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to show up for work on time, ready to work.
  • Ability to work schedule to meet all the obligation of the position
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Ability to communicate (verbally & in writing) in English
  • Ability to follow the policies and procedures of the County and the Sheriff’s Office
  • Ability to operate various office equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements listed below
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One (1) year of general office experience with any combination of education, training and/or experience which demonstrates the potential to perform the duties of the position
  • All persons applying for employment with the Sheriff’s Office shall be required to complete a thorough background investigation. 
  • Where the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, the applicant must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Covering various shifts, nights, weekends and holidays can be expected. Moderate to heavy physical requirements needed for snow removal and grounds maintenance. Ability to maneuver uneven terrain. Duties performed in all types of weather conditions, extreme cold, hot temperatures, high winds. Position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, talk, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see, and hear. Hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across a distance. The employee is required to communicate both orally and in writing. Employee must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, frequently lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
