Position Summary

All duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Reentry Services Director. This position will link students to employers and community resources that support employment and reentry success.

This position will provide individual and group soft skill training and track and maintain accurate data on current and former students.

Listed below are the primary responsibilities for the position; however, the Reentry Director may assign other professional duties to meet the College's needs.

This position will be responsible for Job Placement Coordinator duties at multiple instructional sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with students at multiple instructional sites to develop job placement plans that are realistic and consistent with the student's education and goals.
  • Works with industry, instructors, and other College personnel to help students obtain employment.
  • Serves as liaison between students, employers, and community support agencies.
  • Collects and maintains accurate, relevant data on employers, current and former students, and job placement activities.
  • Provides soft skill training to individuals or in groups.
  • Demonstrates strong computer literacy, including the ability to utilize current technology to communicate and collect relevant data.
  • Completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Participates in in-service training and other continuing education activities to enhance job skills and knowledge.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and any other meetings called by the Center Director and / or his / her designee.
  • Must be eligible to enter all Alabama Department of Corrections and Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
  • Drives state-owned vehicles to visit potential employers statewide (must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license and be eligible for College automotive insurance coverage).
  • Serves on committees as needed.
  • Possesses an understanding and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with applicable guidelines, procedures, and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), ACCS Board of Trustees, and JF Ingram State Technical College.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required .

Experience in developing and maintaining data management processes; correctional education experience; business, industry, or occupational education experience;

and familiarity with the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Administrative Regulations are preferred .

Salary Range : Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule.

All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month.

The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.

Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.

    Tuition Assistance
