Position Summary
The Wallace State Community College Adult Education Program provides academic instruction up to the college 100 level. Areas of instruction include the following : Reading, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, English as a Second Language, Alternate High School Diploma Option, General Educational Development (GED) High School Equivalency Test, Preparation for Compass Test, Preparation for Work Keys Test, and Work Force Career Pathways and Soft Skill Training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Aztec, Essential ED), computer literacy training, and other special programs as defined by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS).
Student enrollment : Assist with learner intake and orientation. Administer assessments and interviews with adult learners to evaluate educational functioning level, develop a plan of instruction to meet individual learning needs, and maintain assessment and records for each learner.
Help with the recruitment of new students.
Andragogy : Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence in the teaching field or subject area, including maintaining expertise through continuing education.
Incorporate most current teaching techniques and subject area developments into student instruction.
Networking : Maintain communication with students, faculty, and other College personnel by holding regular office hours for students, contributing to regular faculty meetings, and participating in other College activities and committees.
Coach students on how to pursue continuing education opportunities through Wallace State Community College or community partners.
In order to perform these essential functions, the Instructor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.
