The Akron Board of Education announces an anticipated opening for a High School Campus Principal, Job Code 096, and Time Schedule 522 (261 days). Salary TBD. Collective Bargaining Unit – none. This is a School Teachers Retirement System position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • Valid State of Ohio Administrative licensure for high school, grades 7-12;
  • Minimum of one year leadership/supervisory role in an educational setting.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for and provides administrative direction to all professional and classified staff, students and community;
  • Initiates, interprets, and implements Board and building policies, procedures, rules and regulations for the orderly operation of the school;
  • Oversees the total school budget and authorizes all expenditure and requisitions;
  • Develops and implements a school-wide safety and security plan for the entire school community;
  • Supervises safety and security operations;
  • Coordinates with the Academy Principal the development of the master schedule, teacher schedules and student schedules;
  • Coordinates with the Academy Principal, promotes and supervises all co-curricular activities;
  • Support academies testing needs;
  • Provides leadership and planning, developing and improving all school improvement processes and school improvement plans;
  • Provides leadership in designing and implementing professional development programs for all classified and non-classified staff;
  • Provides the development of staff through both a program of supervisory activities and the teachers and other staff appraisal programs;
  • Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and well-being of students;
  • Develops and supports effective community relations through appropriate interaction with students, parents, PTA and community groups;
  • Assumes the shared responsibility for the physical school building and grounds which includes the physical condition of the building and coordinates the custodial services with the head custodian;
  • Shares responsibility for curriculum materials for all academic programs, both consumable and non-consumable and supplies for office, staff and custodians;
  • Provide general assistance to Academy Principals;
  • Supervises and evaluates Academy Principal and/or Administrator of Campus Support Services, secretaries, clerical and educational assistants, teachers, tutors, head custodian and cafeteria manager;
  • Collaborates with the academies to create a detailed sharing/usage agreement;
  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of school facilities;
  • Directs the development of an annual facilities plan.
