Job description

Location: Winnebago, NE - Indian Health ServiceOverview:We are seeking dedicated and compassionate health care staff to join our team at the Great Plains Area Regional Drug Dependency Unit (GPARDDU). This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive substance abuse treatment services to eligible beneficiaries of the Indian Health Service. The successful candidates will deliver non-emergent, direct patient care with professionalism and empathy, contributing significantly to the well-being of individuals seeking support for substance abuse recovery.Key 

Responsibilities:Direct Patient Care: Provide general oversight, observe physical and mental health conditions, conduct health assessments, administer medication, prepare meals as necessary, and assist with programming.Administrative Duties: Act as the first point of contact, manage patient intake, handle phone calls, maintain essential documentation, and ensure patient data confidentiality.Patient 

Support: Guide patients and their families in utilizing community, state, and federal resources to improve their overall well-being.Communication: Offer warm, skilled interaction to establish trust with patients, facilitating effective treatment paths.

Reporting & Coordination: Prepare and present reports on activities and accomplishments, document client interactions, respond to emergencies according to protocol, and participate in case management sessions.Shift Coverage: Provide shift coverage as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 80-84 hour bi-weekly schedule.Location & Hours:The GPARDDU operates 24/7, including holidays and weekends. Shifts range from 8 to 12 hours, with a total of 80-84 hours over a two-week period. Schedule flexibility is required, as determined by the SSA Supervisor or designee.Performance Requirements:Non-professional staff will support direct patient care and assist therapeutic staff as needed.The role involves significant interaction with patients, requiring empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Knowledge & Skills Required:Experience in behavioral health, medical assessments, and patient care.Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, including recognition of effects and side effects.Understanding of human behavior under stress and the ability to provide patient care with emotional control and reliability.Ability to provide counseling and health instruction for disease prevention and maintaining good health.Qualifications:Must have training and At least 24 months of direct patient care experience within the last 48 months. Certification in BLS/CPR/AED. Certification in BLS/CPR/AED. Must have or obtain cultural sensitivity training (Native American a plus). Must have proof of vaccinations and all health requirements set forth by Indian Health Services including but not limited to a PPD, flu, Covid, MMR and Hep B.
