The Opportunity:

The Engineering Manager serves as the linchpin in directing our engineering vision, adopting emerging technologies, and enforcing rigorous industry standards like ASME Y14.5 for engineering drawing, IEEE 802.3 for technical writing, and MISRA C/C for programming. Additionally, adherence to UL standards for product safety is paramount. This role reports primarily to the COO and provides secondary reports to the Sales Director and Production Director, offering holistic oversight across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of a robust engineering strategy that leverages emerging technologies to maintain our industry leadership.
  • Continuously identify technology trends and advancements in the HVAC sector to inform our innovation pipeline.
  • Work closely with the Sales Department to ideate and develop pioneering applications and concepts that fulfill unique customer needs.
  • Provide hands-on mentorship to the Application Engineering team, ensuring they are well-versed in up-to-date IEEE 802.3 technical writing standards and other relevant protocols.
  • Spearhead collaborations with the Production Department to advance manufacturing techniques while strictly adhering to UL standards for quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement best practices in drawing and production to elevate the manufacturing process.
  • Implement and oversee ASME Y14.5 engineering drawing standards, MISRA C/C programming codecs, and other relevant frameworks across the engineering teams.
  • Act as the steward for the modernization of all technical literature, including technical specifications, guide specifications, production submittals, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and IOMs, ensuring they exceed industry standards.
  • Oversee and implement a comprehensive audit and quality assurance program of the engineering departmental outputs, to include all engineering documentation and selection/design practices, in alignment with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of engineering processes and outputs to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, as well as ASME, IEEE, MISRA, and UL standards.
  • Collaborate with external auditors for periodic review, ensuring that all audit findings are appropriately addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a robust system for tracking quality metrics, aiming for continuous improvement in engineering processes and deliverables.
  • Train and mentor engineering staff on best practices in quality management, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Act as the company’s expert authority on all aspects of industry compliance, keeping abreast of new regulations and guidelines to ensure company-wide adherence.
  • Engage with industry bodies and forums to represent Air2o’s leadership in engineering innovation and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Programs Department to devise effective sequences of operations for unit functionality, following best practices in MISRA C/C programming.
  • Facilitate a culture of engineering excellence, ensuring that every project not only meets but surpasses ASME, IEEE, MISRA, and UL standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation within the engineering departments to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Facilitate a culture of Continuous Professional Development within the engineering department.
  • Orchestrate a road map for development and initiate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world projects, including the building and implementation of innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and develop practical, scalable solutions that address complex technical challenges.
  • Deep understanding of thermal engineering principles and practices, with a track record of successfully applying this knowledge to develop energy-efficient and sustainable technologies.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee the entire lifecycle of a project from conception to implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship, with a strong desire to make a tangible impact through the application of engineering principles to real-world problems.
