Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs guided by an Electrical PE for each project
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and team members
• Review applicable code requirements and prepare concept and schematic assessments
• Evaluate various design approaches to recommend the best course of action
• Review the life cycle costs associated with major design decisions and review the solutions available from each manufacturer
• Review the solutions available from each manufacturer
• Design lighting and lighting controls systems, including performing lighting calculations
• Design power distribution changes and perform associated calculations
• Design fire alarm, rough-in for low voltage, nurse call, lightning protection, grounding, and all other systems associated with the electrical design
• Assemble and prepare specifications
• Attend site surveys, design meetings, and CA site visits
• Review submittals, RFIs, RFCs, and compile record documents including client asset management information
• Manage the engineering production of a small project
• Produce electrical models and calculations as guided by an Electrical PE
• Perform short circuit calculations to evaluate series ratings, current limiting effects, and to evaluate best value options for each reported inadequacy
• Perform coordination time-current curve (TCC) and device setting analysis
• Perform arc flash analysis and recommend changes for dangerous locations
• Electrical field surveying on occasion

• Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering (ABET Accredited)
• One (1) to 5 years of electrical engineering experience, especially valued in healthcare or similarly complex design
• WELL AP, LC, EI, PE, and other applicable credentials are optional yet preferred
• Experience in performing power system and equipment selection studies for electrical contractors, manufacturers, and/or owners
• Facilitate and work in Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
• Commitment to excellence in quality of work and customer service along with an interest in expanding personal engineering abilities
• Detailed orientation through complex challenges situations with a solutions orientation
• Optimistic, innovative attitude through challenging situations with a willingness to learn
• Experience to perform varying tasks self-sufficiently and performing QC checks
• Attend field investigations with an electrical contractor
