Advocates Building Lasting Equality in NH (ABLE NH) is Hiring an Executive Director Near Concord, NH

ROLE

The Executive Director of Advocates Building Lasting Equality in New Hampshire (ABLE NH) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to the organization, while also serving as the public face and spokesperson for ABLE New Hampshire. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to set the strategic direction of the organization and to ensure that all activities are aligned with the mission and goals of ABLE NH. This position reports to and is evaluated by the ABLE NH Board of Directors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration & Operations

  • Direct the organization’s day-to-day operations in keeping with the mission and vision outlined by the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in development and implementation of a strategic plan for ABLE NH that includes short- and long-term goals, objectives, and action steps.
  • Work directly with the Board and all Board Committees to ensure the mission of ABLE NH is met.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for ABLE NH, represent the organization to the media, government agencies, donors, and the general public.
  • Nurture the organization’s key relationships with staff, community partners, funders, constituents, the media, and the public.
  • Develop and implement organizational policies, including financial and personnel policies with oversight by the Board of Directors.
  • Recruit, onboard, supervise and support ABLE NH employees.
  • Develop and monitor the annual operating budget.
  • Manage grant and contract deliverables and oversee reporting to ABLE NH funders.
  • Ensure that ABLE NH is in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Advocacy

  • Advocate for the civil and human rights of children and adults with disabilities. Promote full participation by: improving systems, connecting families, inspiring communities, and influencing public policy.
  • Ensure that the organization is identifying and developing leaders in the Disabilities Community.

Organizational Growth & Development

  • Implement a Development Plan, which will include long-term fundraising strategies for the organization and the organization’s plan to raise funds via grants, dues, fundraisers, and individual and institutional donors to allow for adequate annual funding and to meet long-term goals.
  • Identify and apply for grant and contract opportunities.
  • Design and implement a plan to increase membership and attendance at ABLE NH chapters, task forces, and events.

General

  • Work frequent evenings and some weekends as necessary.
  • Travel around the state for in-person meetings.
  • Perform other job functions as mutually agreed with the Board of Directors.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep commitment to the mission and values of ABLE New Hampshire.
  • Demonstrated passion for social justice and disability rights.
  • Proven ability to engage diverse communities and cultivate relationships with and develop leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure and oversee funding.
  • Proven ability to plan effectively and to achieve multiple high priority goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in oral and written forms.
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of word processing, data management, and cloud-based software.
  • College degree or equivalent lived experience or education in the field of nonprofit management and social justice.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy, public policy, nonprofit management and community organizing is preferred.
