Project Overview: The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for Project DBA tasks. The work may include upgrades of Oracle RDBMS versions from 12c to Oracle 19c RDBMS release utilizing multi-tenant container/pluggable RDBMs on Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata).
The Project DBA will work within the TIPMO (Project Management Office) process using Northern Trust's Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) methodology.
Contractor’s Role: In this role, the Oracle DBA will design, build, test, and deploy quality database solutions that are consistent with PMLC project objectives and NTRS technology architecture standards and best practices.
The Oracle DBA, as part of a project team, will execute all database tasks from design phase to deployment phase utilizing their expertise to direct design, make configuration suggestions, and implement database solutions that maximize system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, recoverability, and supportability. Also, DBA should help and guide the team to overcome the challenges, if any and review the code for all their deliverables from the aspects of code quality, meeting standards and performance. The DBA will actively collaborate with the GDP Engineering team to develop standards and guidelines to guide database infrastructure strategy.

Qualifications:
Experience with management of Oracle Databases:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in administrating medium to large databases in complex enterprise environments
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Strong Database experience from either working in a support organization or project team.
• Deep experience in working on large database clusters
• Strong coding experience using PLSQL both functionally and from performance tuning aspect
• Deep experience with the Linux operating system and shell scripting
• Strong knowledge to interpret the ADR report and come up with the performance tuning recommendation
• Experience with Oracle 11g, 12c and 19c
• Experience with monitoring implementation, performance tuning and optimization.
• Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing priorities in a deadline-driven situation.
• Strong planning and organizing skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously.
• Ability to think strategically and evaluate options in the short, medium and long term.
• Good communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically both in writing and verbally.
• Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when to escalate issues.
• Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritization and a pragmatic approach.
• Good team player to work with 10 domain teams, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
• Experience in script automation for performing loading testing or test automation
Nice to Have:
• Basic Java knowledge to understand the code flow , find out the queries or stored procedures used.
• Experience with Delphix
• Encryption technologies and experience a plus
• Understanding and execution of the IT processes of Incident Management (Service Now), Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management.
• Knowledge on Cloud data warehouse like Snowflake
• Knowledge on Control-M for job scheduling
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Partner with business, technical, and application partners to discuss the project requirements and to help plan and develop solutions for he Oracle Database architecture.
• Ability to plan and complete projects based on high-level requirements with minimal or no guidance.
• Methodical and accurate while delivering tasks, working within project deadlines.
• Systematic approach to identifying issues and pursuing paths to resolution.
• Experience installing and building new solutions or improving existing applications.
• Ability to foresee relevant issues and assist in proposing possible solutions, Performance and Tuning expertise a must, root cause analysis in a Firecall situation.
• Lead upgrades and migration of Oracle legacy software versions (Lifecycle).
• Participate in the design, configuration and implementation of secure and scalable enterprise Oracle 19c RDBMs.
• Management of multiple schemas/databases through system development, User Acceptance testing and production environment.
• Plan, coordinate and implement security measures (Encryption) to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
• Develop and execute data migration strategies for VLDB, review and improve lifecycle upgrade processes, contribute to project best practices for Engineered Systems (Exadata).
• Communicate and educate Application teams regarding Oracle RAC, the Exadata platform and the process of rolling maintenance plans for engineered systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting Oracle 19c projects which may impact go-live dates.
