Job Summary: The Quality Inspector will utilize mechanical inspection techniques and equipment to conduct a variety of inspections on machined parts, non-machined parts, and materials. Electrical and chemical inspections may also be performed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Analyze and interpret drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
- Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications which may include mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical inspections.
- Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
- Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
- Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
- Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
- Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- As applicable, compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
- Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
- Prepare first article reports and enter required data into computer
- Document inspection findings and complete rejection reports.
- Ensure raw materials, in-process and finished products meet company standards.
- May apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.
- May assess draft and final label copy, utilizing knowledge of labeling regulations
- Minimize down time by reducing production rework and recalls.
- Follow established process/procedures for discarding or rejecting products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.

- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
Other Essential Duties:
- Utilize a variety of inspection and measurement tools and equipment (scales, moisture meter, density meter, penetrometer, viscometer, etc.) in the performance of inspection and measurement duties.
- Identify all gels, oils, and other materials requiring inspection and prioritize based on internal guidance.
- Inspect, audit and report on materials, processes and products using test equipment and techniques to ensure conformance with Teledyne’s quality standards.
- Document inspection results per procedures.
- Prepare non-conformance reports for non-conforming parts/materials.
- Ensure parts/materials that do not meet requirements are identified and segregated to prevent inadvertent use.
- Perform in-process and final testing of products as assigned.
- Perform validation of reference item/standards at prescribed intervals.
- Participate in quality system procedure documentation and form creation.
- Assist in the maintenance of the M&TE Calibration program.
- Perform receiving inspection of cable oil deliveries and provide tank truck unloading/loading assistance.
- Maintain, catalog, and organize samples retained for future reference and verification.
- Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent and some degree of vocational or technical training preferred. 3 years of experience in mechanical inspections of machined parts and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
