Assure that patient specimens meet laboratory quality standards for testing. Receives specimens and checks for proper and complete patient information and identification according to established laboratory policies and procedures. Prepares specimens for testing. Verifies correct sample type, volume, handling and storage conditions. Properly centrifuges, aliquots and labels specimen and delivers to the appropriate laboratory department. This position has access to confidential patient information and direct patient care. This position does not have access to funds.

Duties/Responsibilities

* Visually review all specimens for identification, compliance and specimen integrity.

* Prepare specimens for testing via centrifugation, separation and distribution to proper areas.

* Pull outstanding specimen reports for laboratory departments.

* Answer tube system and receive specimens.

* Pull work sheets and prepare batch testing.2

* Order add-on testing, complete and fax verbal request form and retrieve specimens for testing.

* Receive, sort and process specimen from various customers to include regional sites.

* Responsible for CBN file to pull and process any outstanding orders.

* Performs reference duties as assigned

* Accepts all other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to skill level and as assigned.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

* Two to three years laboratory related experience
