Adaptive and Inclusive Movement Initiative is Hiring a Program Director Near Seattle, WA

About Our Nonprofit:
AIM actively engages individuals with disabilities through a comprehensive approach to fostering self-expression and meaningful connections within an inclusive environment. Our current focus is on providing adaptive movement classes and camps tailored for youth and young adults with disabilities, complemented by dedicated volunteer support. We plan to strategically broaden our artistic offerings by introducing music and visual art components to our initiatives. Furthermore, we aspire to connect our participants with external studios and organizations, fostering inclusive opportunities on a broader scale in the foreseeable future. As part of our collaborative efforts, we have established partnerships with entities such as Seattle Parks & Recreation, local non-profit organizations, and high schools. We operate within rented studio space at All That Dance and will explore alternative locations to accommodate our growing initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Program Director holds responsibility for the daily management and operations of the organization as well as the strategic implementation of its vision and mission. The Program Director will oversee multiple part-time roles as direct reports: Administrative Assistant, Volunteer Coordinator, Instruction Coordinator, Direct Support Staff, and Teaching staff. The Program Director reports to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

The Program Director will support the organization’s transition to a new leadership structure by accepting management responsibility for operational functions. They will be responsible for building and defining the Staff Teams, defining roles and staff needs, and providing input on the developing budget for AIM. They will lead efforts to develop a robust membership process and database, lead the efforts to develop and grow current programming, form community partnerships, and pursue additional leads from the board or other community leaders.

● Oversee daily operations, manage projects and programs, and implement a database.

● Identify, recommend, develop, and implement program and process improvement.

● Develop and implement a marketing plan.

● Oversee and evaluate staff, manage roles and responsibilities, and administrative matters.

● Maintain collaborative relationships with providers, families, collaborators, and the community.

● Ensure compliance with state, federal, and credentialing standards such as insurance companies.

● Onboard new staff and verify the accuracy of time sheets for direct reports.

● Resolve issues that arise with staff, clients, families, communication, and processes.

● Onsight availability as needed and for the first day of each program to ensure all goes smoothly

and answer questions.

● Coordinate contracting logistics and terms such as schedules at offsite locations, develop

contracts, and collect signatures.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP, RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, AND FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

The Program Director and the Board of Directors will work through a strategic planning process to deliver a clearly defined plan with key performance indicators and timelines for incremental goals. The Program Director will manage the budget and identify and pursue diverse funding sources. This includes contributing to formalizing a fundraising strategy, focusing on fundraising, and continually expanding and improving programs. Increasing overall revenue to a sufficient level so that the annual operating budget does not operate at a deficit is a critical component for success.

● As a leadership team member, this position is deeply involved in outreach, upholding, and promoting AIM’s mission, vision, philosophy, and culture.

● Strategic planning - based on organization priorities and executive leadership.

● Initiate and oversee the development of a new Day Program for adults with disabilities.

● Research and review the possible development of an internship program and report to the board with findings/recommendations.

● Remain apprised of current trends, practices, and legislation through networking and publications to grow and diversify AIM programs and operations.

● Build and coordinate partnerships with key community organizations and partners, including government agencies, research institutions, art organizations, disability, and advocacy groups.

● Responsible for preparing an annual budget that is submitted to the board for approval, monthly reporting to the board, and managing financial operations.

● Creates and executes a fundraising plan to increase philanthropic revenue each quarter.

● Participate in developing and monitoring revenue and expense budgets for all programs.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Program Director is expected to step in if needed as support staff during classes, camps, or in the day program. This will require duties such as lifting, providing physical support to students, providing personal care, and interactions with volunteers and parents/guardians. Must be able to lift 75 pounds intermittently throughout the day, must be able to sit, bend, and reach. The Program Director must be available remotely or in the office Monday through Friday during normal office hours. This position may require working outside normal business hours for the purpose of program support.

Skills and Abilities:

A successful Program Director possesses managerial skills, including a strategic mindset, operational expertise, and personnel management, and can lead and develop their staff. They can easily multitask, problem-solve effectively, and communicate both written and verbally. They have the ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts across the program with other employees and organizations. The Program Director will collaborate closely with the Leadership Team and AIM’s Board of Directors and report directly to the Co-Presidents of the AIM Board.

Program Director should be proficient in the use of Teams/Zoom, Excel, Word, Database management, and Google Suite.

Experience:
● 5 years of experience working with people with disabilities

● 5 years of non-profit work experience

● 5 years of management experience

Education and Training:

● Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Education, the Arts, etc.)

● Valid Washington State Driver's License
