Position Overview 

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the structural and architectural integrity of all Ackerman Cancer Center facilities and and other holdings or buildings. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining the physical appearance and cleanliness of all areas of the external and internal facilities as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

• Oversee and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Work with vendors on new construction projects.
• Maintain the facilities in an appealing manner and free from any hazards that could cause harm or injury, including cleaning, painting, repairing and/or performing other assigned tasks per the facility maintenance schedule.
• Maintain and test all facility and residence backup generators on a weekly schedule and test the transfer switch on a quarterly schedule.
• Ensure that all details are met and work meets standards for personal duties and that of any service providers assigned to supervision by this position.

Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience with building maintenance responsibilities and construction projects.
• Experience with maintenance and minor repairs of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for homes and industrial facilities.
• Proficiency with typical household and industrial supplies, equipment and tools.
• Honesty, integrity, and discretion
• Good balance, depth-perception and eye-hand coordination
• Good communications skills: Oral & Written, including record keeping and report generation
• Strong organizational, prioritization, self-management, and project management skills Good attention to details and completion of work per schedule with minimal supervision.

Preferred

• Residential and industrial maintenance and construction experience.
• Certification in electrical, plumbing or maintenance. 
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints and other construction documents, construction submittals and scopes of work; and, technical and repair and instruction manuals

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm
