Job Description: MAINTENANCE II
Department: Maintenance
Status: Hourly
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
This position is responsible to keep facility in a clean and orderly condition. Will perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and machines, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities and notifying management of need for repairs. Performs work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure in repair. Duties may involve insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, preventive maintenance of machines to include maintaining oil and/or coolant in all machines.
Eligible for holiday pay on day one and 40 hours of vacation available after 90 days of employment.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
· Shop Janitor:
o Clean plant floors by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
o Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
o Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepared cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
o Strip, seal, finish and polish floors.
o Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
o Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
o Clean and restore building interiors and machines using commercial cleaning equipment.
o Maintain cleanliness of restrooms in the plant to include sweeping and mopping as required, empty waste containers, clean walls/stalls as required, replace paper supplies, deodorant blocks, clean and disinfect urinals, toilets and sinks. Inspect all restrooms twice daily to make sure they are clean, stocked and free of debris.
o Remove trash from plant break room and office areas on a daily basis.
o Set up and break down chairs in the break room for employee meetings.
o Maintain proper inventory levels on all supplies related to this function.
· Maintenance Helper / Oiler:
o Maintain oil levels in all machines including gearboxes, hydraulic tanks, lube oil tanks, air line oilers, etc.
o Maintain coolant levels in all plant machines.
o Mix coolants to proper percentages for all turning machines, mills, and broaches.
o Maintenance and cleanliness of all drip pans.
o Removal of oil and chips from coolants tanks and recycling of coolant.
o Assist in preventive maintenance including, but not limited to:
o Maintain inventory on all supplies related to this position and duties.
· Preventive Maintenance:
o Performs scheduled preventative maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
o Administration of the Preventive Maintenance Program including data entry, assigning task, and follow-up.
o Tracking of all preventive maintenance in process and give daily status report to supervisor.
o Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work order to perform required maintenance and service.
o Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations.
o QS9000, ISO9000 Compliance and Document Control for department.
Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by supervisor
Skills/Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Ability to read directions and job requests.
· Technical training in the maintenance field with 2 years of exposure in a manufacturing environment.
· An excellent interpersonal skill, as well as the ability to communicate with other personnel is required.
· Self-disciplined and self-motivated.
· A criminal background check will be conducted.
· Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a long period of time.
· Must be able to frequently move about the work area to perform required cleaning duties.
· Will require employee to walk from one end of the facility to the other driving floor scrubber for a long period of time.
· Must be able to frequently bend and reach overhead
· Reading and writing ability to follow work order instructions.
· Manual dexterity and visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions operate machinery, and visual inspection of parts.
· May relocate equipment weighing between .5 (1/2) pound up to 60 pounds at various times.
