Job Title: Human Resource Generalist
Reports to: Director of Human Resources and Information Technology
Job Status: Exempt, Salaried, Full-time
Pay Range: $50,000 per year
Primary Location: Detroit, MI

The Human Resource Generalist plays a crucial role in smooth functioning of the organization by managing various HR functions, driving the success of the organization. They will serve as a member of the human resources team and will work closely with the Director of Human Resources and Information Technology to ensure that all objectives in these areas are realized.

Job Responsibilities: Recruitment and Onboarding
- Work with the Director of HR to create and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Manage the full recruitment life cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection.
- Conduct new employee orientations and ensure smooth onboarding processes.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and management, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assists with handling employee inquiries, complaints, and conflicts, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
- Promote a positive work environment and foster employee morale and engagement.
- Visit alternate tax site locations weekly, year round, to work directly with staff and volunteers.
Performance Management
- Assist with the development and implement performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Assisting in providing guidance and coaching to managers on performance-related matters.
- Assist with support of employee development through training initiatives and career planning.
Benefits Administration
- Assist with overseeing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Ensure accurate and timely administration of benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries.
Compliance
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, working with the Director of HR to ensure compliance in all HR practices.
- Maintain accurate HR records and employee files.
- Prepare and submit necessary HR reports and filings as required.
Requirements
Successful candidates will possess all or many of the following qualifications and/or skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources, with a strong understanding of HR practices and principles.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and benefits administration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite, Paylocity experience strongly preferred
