HARDLINES TEAM LEAD

Through a passion for the great outdoors, the Hardlines teams drive sales for our customers seeking excitement in the shooting sports and outdoor activities such as bass fishing and camping. As a Hardlines Sales Team Lead, you’re responsible for guiding the team toward successful execution of store projects and ensuring a premier customer experience. Through this important work, the Hardlines Sales Team Lead impacts customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s Purpose.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Work Experiences:

• At least two years of relevant work experience required.
• In-direct support of people and processes to drive operational excellence and expected sales targets.

Other Requirements:

• Must meet federal and state requirements for selling and processing firearms transactions.
• Must meet requirements to qualify to obtain/maintain FOID card (Illinois only).

Skills:

• Excellent customer service orientation; an effective problem solver and communicator with customers and team members.
• Read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, plan-o-grams and procedure manuals.
• Prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Working knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.

Responsibilities:

• Acts as lead and provides guidance when needed to team of sales team members and Enthusiasts in Camping,

Fishing & Hunting and Team Sports to ensure that exceptional customer service is the priority of every interaction and for execution of operational tasks.

• Provide prompt and friendly service to all customers.
• Drive sales through exceptional customer service skills, sales techniques and store knowledge to connect customers with the right products.
• Assists manager with daily planning of operational tasks assigned to the store.
• Oversees special or ongoing process improvement projects and initiatives.
• Executes plan to ensure team members are compliant with established policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
• Assists with departmental zoning by providing support, guidance and overseeing the recovery process.
• Actively participates in floor walks with Store Manager, Store Director, District Manager and Regional Vice President.
• Process firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law, including properly completing ATF Form 4473 and conducting background checks.
• Required to complete Firearms Sales Certification Training.
• Required to learn and follow company policies, procedures and safety rules.
• Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
• Duties may change and team members may be required to perform other duties or roles as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Attendance

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Constantly stand, walk, reach, handle, use repetitive motions (hand/wrist/fingers), feel and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Frequently stoop, crouch, use fingers, grasp, push, pull, talk, hear and lift up to 21 to 40 pounds.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance and lift 41 to 60 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Experience:

• Retail sales: 1 year (Preferred)
• Leadership: 1 year (Required)
