Aberdeen Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing is Hiring a Restorative Aide Near Trenton, MI

Provides Nursing Rehab/Restorative Care Program services as established in the MPAN Nursing Rehab/Restorative Care Program manual and identified in the resident’s individualized plan of care. Is directed in the performance and implementation.

Qualifications

  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
  • Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Anyone found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.
  • Satisfactory completion of the MPAN Nursing Rehab/ Restorative Care Training Program or other equivalent program and the competency/skills validation tests.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within 120 days or employment; name entered into state nurse aide registry. Satisfactory completion of the Mariner Nursing Rehabilitation/Restorative Care training program or other equivalent program including competency skills validation tests.

Language Skills
Must be able to express self express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families and staff members.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers; calculate percentage of whole; measure in cubic centimeters (cc’s); measure in feet and inches. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, length and height.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key functions.

Care and Services:

  • Provides nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services:
  • Promote resident’s ability to adopt and adjust to living as independently as possible.
  • Trains the resident in self-care according to the resident’s abilities.
  • Trains the resident in the use of assistive devices for transferring, walking and mobility, dressing and grooming, eating and swallowing.
  • Maintains range of motion; proper turning and positioning in bed and chair.
  • Provides bladder and bowel retraining.
  • Instructs the resident on the care and use of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • Incorporates training and skill practice activities which include repetition, physical or verbal cueing and task segmentation.
  • Takes and records vital signs
  • Measures and records height and weight
  • Calculates and records weight gain or loss
  • Calculates and records fluid intake and output
  • Cares for the resident’s environment
  • Recognizes abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor
  • Cares for residents when death is imminent
  • Makes routine rounds on each assigned resident every two hours
  • Bathe residents
  • Assists with grooming, including mouth care
  • Dresses residents
  • Toilets residents
  • Assist with eating and hydration
  • Uses proper feeding techniques
  • Calculates and records percentage of meal eaten
  • Observes resident’s skin when giving care and reports changes to licensed nurse
  • Provides skin care
  • Transfers, positions and turns residents
  • Meet residents’ mental health and social service needs
  • Modifies own behavior in response to residents’ behaviors
  • Is aware of developmental tasks associated with the aging process
  • Knows how to respond to residents’ behaviors
  • Allows residents to make personal choices
  • Provides and reinforces other behavior consistent with the residents’ dignity
  • Uses the resident’s assessment (MDS/RAPS) and the plan of care
  • Provides non-resident care including, but not limited to:

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.50 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
