DESCRIPTION

The Registered Nurse has clinical nursing knowledge, physical assessment, teaching and procedural skills. He/she has the ability to be directly responsible for assessing, planning, providing and documenting nursing care for a designated group of patients in accordance with the physician’s plan of care and Aberdeen's policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Abide by Aberdeen policies and procedures
• Medication administration
• Assist nurse aides with patient ADLs
• Keeping a check on the eating habits of the patients
• Assembling the equipment like gastrostomy tubes, catheters, and oxygen supplies
• Providing the basic bedside care like dressing wounds, changing bandages, inserting catheters, and giving injections
• Taking the patient's vital signs such as respiration, temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate
• Enter the data related to the record of patients in computer systems
• Interview patients and examine their medical history
• Educate and encourage patients to avoid unhealthy routine
• Inform the patients about the doctor’s orders
• Help the patients to understand documentation or paperwork
• Talk to the patients about their present problems, allergies, medications. Patient/family education is key!
• Talk to the patients and their families about their treatment plan, tests, and diagnoses
• Supervise certified nursing assistants and other non-licensed nursing professionals
• Taking verbal orders from the MD
• Aid in phlebotomy - perform blood draws
• IV starting and setting up: validate solution to be regulated, analyzing infusion site, keep track of IV function and patient comfort, and terminate IV at an appropriate time, as ordered by MD.
• Call pharmacies for ordering patient medications
• Contacting attending physician with any critical test results or change in condition

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $34.00 - $41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
