Under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer, the Paralegal will be responsible for assisting the executive team with administrative support, composing legal documents, and clerical tasks.

What You'll Do

  • Communicate and work directly with the Chief Legal Office to collect, examine, and organize information and legal documents for review and case preparation
  • General administrative assistance:
    • Maintaining the Chief Legal Officer’s calendar
    • Scheduling travel
    • Conference calls and meetings
    • Accurate calendar management
    • Screening incoming phone calls and taking and relaying messages
  • Ensure that all new legal matters are accurately set up and organized
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents
  • Organize and maintain documents, ensuring hard copy and/or electronic files are kept up to date when active and archived when closed
  • Identify and retrieve information necessary to support legal decision-making
  • Track and organize invoices from outside counsel

Education/Experience and Other Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal
  • Previous legal experience, familiarity with legal procedures and the court system, and litigation support experience preferred
    • Litigation: 5 years (preferred)
    • Paralegal: 5 years (preferred)
  • Large law firm experience is a plus
  • Experience with litigation and transactional legal practices a plus
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Westlaw

  • A high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask, managing large workloads/projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing workflow
  • Able to adapt to the continued roll-out of innovative tools and processes
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and accurate in proofreading
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Administrative and document management experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
